Jean Jul Desauguste, a former journalist for Radio Télé Métropole, has been appointed spokesperson for the new Prime Minister Garry Conille. He held his first press conference this Friday, June 7, 2024, presenting the report on the first days of Garry Conille's term.



**Port-au-Prince, June 7, 2024** – Known as one of the presenters of the program "Le Point" on Radio Télé Métropole, Jean Jul Desauguste has been officially appointed spokesperson for Prime Minister Garry Conille, according to the communication office of the Prime Minister's Office. During his first press conference, Desauguste presented a report on the Prime Minister's activities from his arrival in the country last Saturday until this Friday, June 7, 2024.

Desauguste recalled that within just 24 hours of his arrival, Prime Minister Garry Conille visited downtown Port-au-Prince to observe the situation on the ground, visiting temporary shelters to learn about the living conditions of those displaced by armed conflicts.

The spokesperson also informed that during these first days, the Prime Minister met with members of the Superior Council of the National Police (CSPN), the Director General of the National Police of Haiti (Frantz Elbé), and the high command of the Haitian Armed Forces. Concerned about the services of mobile phone companies, Garry Conille met with representatives of Natcom and Digicel to discuss issues related to the current situation.

Moreover, Garry Conille had discussions with members of the private business sector, one of the sectors most affected by the recent escalation of gang violence. According to Desauguste, the Prime Minister also held several important meetings with members of the Presidential Transition Council for the formation of the government. "At this very moment, the Prime Minister is meeting with the CPT," he added.

Jean Jul Desauguste reaffirmed Garry Conille's commitment to forming a government capable of meeting the expectations of the Haitian people. "This is a government where everyone will be represented," he stated, emphasizing that Garry Conille is aware of the situation and is striving to establish an inclusive government as quickly as possible.
