Indonesia's Bali Sea region was jolted by a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0, according to reports from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
The earthquake's epicenter was situated 203 km (126 miles) north of Mataram, Indonesia, and occurred at an extraordinary depth of 516 km (320.63 miles) beneath the Earth's surface.
The U.S. Geological Survey assessed the magnitude slightly higher at 7.1.
Fortunately, the U.S. Tsunami Warning System conveyed that the earthquake's occurrence deep beneath the seafloor posed no threat of a tsunami.
